Food City 500 Tickets - Bristol Race Promises Heated Action in '10

By: Brent Warnken

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! It's officially racing season, and NASCAR fans are coming out of hibernation to flock online to get their hands on Food City 500 tickets to this year's blowout Sprint Cup race in March.

The March 21 Food City 500 at the Bristol Motor Speedway will mark NASCAR's sixth official race of the 2010 season, and it's time for the big dogs to pull away from the rest of the pack as NASCAR's greatest stock car champions face off on the World's Fastest Half-Mile. There's never a dull moment at the much-anticipated Bristol race, and Tennesseans will congregate in herds from all over the state to catch Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya and the rest of the Sprint Cup crew in action.

Making his return to Bristol one for the books, Kyle Busch is out to post his third win at the Food City 500 after sweeping win No. 2 at last year's Food City extravaganza. The Busch brothers have dominated this Bristol race since 2002, when Kurt Busch snatched his first Bristol win, and Kurt Busch's four collective wins at the Food City 500 could soon be closed in on as his younger brother Kyle tries to snag back-to-back wins at the 500 mile race this year (he also took home the gold in 2007, as well).

Last year at Bristol, Mark Martin won his second pole in a row at the Food City 500, but he was ultimately no match for the fiery Kyle Busch during the main running, as Busch sped into Victory Lane with the big win after holding off Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin in the final stretch of the race. Busch led 378 laps during the race while keeping Hamlin in check, and rounding out the top five during last year's race were Jimmie Johnson in third, Jeff Gordon in fourth and Kasey Kahne in fifth place. Gordon pulled ahead in Sprint Cup standings after his top-five finish in Bristol, but this year's Food City 500 could take a much different turn.

With the Daytona 500 upon us, this year's NASCAR season could see some monumental changes from 2009. Danica Patrick is sure to bring more media attention to NASCAR's Nationwide Series as she makes her long-awaited debut in stock car racing, and Sprint Car drivers will get another crack at holding off Jimmie Johnson from taking his fifth straight Sprint Cup Championship in the Chase.

Looking to make amends after last year's mistakes on the racetrack in Bristol are Michael Waltrip and Kevin Harvick, two key drivers who had costly car problems during last year's running. Waltrip spun into the wall during practice for last year's big race in Bristol and had to start the race in his backup car, while Harvick's car was too tight and had trouble running more than 100 miles per hour.

The 2009 Food City 500 marked the second win of the year for Kyle Busch, who also took the Shelby 427 in Las Vegas before sweeping Bristol. Busch will go for it again this year in mid-March as the Food City 500 awaits, and series standouts should start to take shape by then, as well, making the 2010 Food City 500 on March 21 a must-see race for NASCAR fans of all calibers.
